The art installation “Handy Canopy” captures the community’s resiliency (residents and businesses) through this pandemic and the changes in climate with increasing heat. The “Handy Canopy” art installation pulls together these many benefits in a fun and creative way to help bring awareness to these issues and directly connect people to resources in the city.

The artists Claudia Paraschiv and Azia Carle organized community workdays that brought people together for much-needed social connections after long periods of isolation during the pandemic.

CSC secured funding from MassDevelopment Commonwealth Places and worked closely with Four Corners Main Street on the RFP, selection process, and project management.

The "Handy Canopy" project is part of CSC's long-time project management to create the Fairmount Greenway in Dorchester, Mattapan, and Hyde Park. CSC has also worked with several other community groups along the Fairmount Greenway to develop new open space sites that also include murals and placemaking.
