Civic Space Collaborative joined the Town of Belchertown and Terra Genesis to provide community engagement services and inform the phase two design of the Lake Wallace Sensory Trail, the fully-accessible amenity of the Belchertown Heritage Trails network.

To inform the design, engagement services included interviews with key project stakeholders, an online survey, and the facilitation of two community meetings. Key findings included the desire of the community to use the Trail for enjoying nature, relax and participate in community events. Design elements to incorporate in the Trail included the addition of seating, native pollinator plants, bathrooms, and picnic tables.

Another key result was the fostering of a Friends group that will be able to support trail programming and operations upon its completion.
