Murals
As part of Civic Space Collaborative's ongoing work with the Fairmount Greenway, we oversaw the creation of three pavement murals in Codman Square, Dorchester.
The Fairmount Greenway is a proposed nine-mile walking-biking route along Boston’s Fairmount Corridor. As half of the Greenway’s route is on streets, the pavement murals create a new community space to host play streets and block parties in communities that have limited open space. In addition, the projects help to slow traffic in the City of Boston’s Slow Zones.
Public Art Installations
We have worked with residents in Codman Square on a bike art project and temporary art projects in Hyde Park. We also supported public art projects in Four Corners with the previous artist in resident, Claudia Paraschiv, in the creation of a bench on Washington Street near the bus stop.
Placemaking
Civic Space Collaborative has worked on several placemaking projects along the Fairmount Corridor in Boston’s Dorchester, Mattapan, and Hyde Park neighborhoods. We worked with Hyde Park residents to identify placemaking projects near the Fairmount Station, which included landscaping and lighting improvements to an underutilized plaza.
Pop-Up Parks
We have worked to plan, implement, and secure funding for the pop-up parks along the Fairmount Greenway.
