Gove Street Placemaking

We partnered with the Boston Society of Landscape Architects on behalf of the Friends for a design challenge to improve the Greenway's crossing at Gove Street. The winner of the design challenge was Toole Design’s proposal to do a short-term installation in 2019 on Boston Parks property and a street owned by the City of Boston. East Boston residents were engaged in the planning and design process during a drop-in session at the library, which also helped to collect and incorporate ideas from youth.

Climate Art Installation

RisingEMOTIONS was a temporary art installation that brought awareness about the impacts of rising sea levels in East Boston. CSC worked with artist Carolina Aragón in the project's conceptual development and implementation. We supported the artist with obtaining necessary permits from the City of Boston and Arts Commission, as well as community engagement through surveying and planning work days at the East Boston Library. CSC also led the coordination of the installation day.

Mural Installation

In 2020, we oversaw mural coordination through the Sea Walls/PangeaSeed Foundation. We supported the installation of two large wall murals, engaged Council members in the design process, and supported obtaining approvals from the City of Boston’s Art Commission. The mural artists included Sophie Tuttle and Artists for Humanity.
